Climate Education
Nepal & Bangladesh
In Nepal, a month-long climate education was organised in Saraswati Secondary School of Gorkha District, Adarsha H.S. School, Sundarbazar, Lamjung and Vidya school of Topgachhi, Jhapa to educate the newly emerging generation about the basics of climate change. The participants were from financially challenged families, and their stories depicted their vulnerability to climate change and its impacts. Similarly, the students chosen in Bangladesh for this project were from a coastal city called Cox’s Bazar, which has been frequently affected by clones, floods, landslides, saltwater intrusion, waterlogging, etc. The sheer number of climate change induced disasters occuring in this community makes it a priority in Climate Education. During the process, we also came across a vulnerable fishing community which not only faced Climate Change Disaster but also lacked access to basic sanitation and clean drinking water. Therefore, GIN conducted the Climate Education program and provided financial support to the community to obtain clean drinking water.
