Project Abstract
Given the ongoing pandemic face mask has become a daily necessity for people. Thus, its production scale has also magnified at a very humongous scale. Some of these masks are sustainably disposed of yet, a majority of them end up either in the landfills or are incinerated in the open spaces threatening the livelihood of humans and animals. This unsustainable action adds to the deteriorating state of the environment. Therefore, Gross International Nature is trying to mitigate this issue and find a plausible solution to it. For this noble initiative to be executed in practice we have been indulged in primary data collection in Bhutan and Bangladesh simultaneously. At the initial process, the research team of GIN has agreed to propose to various governmental and non-governmental organizations with our solution of making tote bags out of the used surgical mask. A pilot project will be carried out in Bhutan and Bangladesh and upon carrying out similar case studies in other countries the same solution to the problem will be applied using GIN’s vast international network.
